Five Questions to Ask When Buying a Conservatory

Back to list

Buying a conservatory is a big deal. They bring extra room, comfort and added value to your home. But you’re only going to be satisfied if you pick the right one – otherwise, you might find that you’ve spent thousands of pounds on something that doesn’t suit your property.

So, how do you choose the right conservatory?

We’ve come up with a list of five questions to ask yourself when making this decision. If you can answer them, then your choice will be simple.

  1. Decide on the size
  2. Choose the style
  3. Decide on the use
  4. Decide who will build it
  5. Check if you can afford it

What size does it need to be?

Before we can give you a quote, we need to know the exact measurements of the space you wish the conservatory to be built in. Once we have them, we can begin constructing the parts to your exact size specifications.

If we have the wrong measurements, then the parts might not fit together with your home as they should – so it’s important that they are spot on. Our conservatories are available in many different sizes, so we’re confident that there’s something for everyone.

What type of conservatory should I pick?

Here at Conservatory Land, you have a choice of over ten different conservatory styles. From Victorian conservatories to Edwardian conservatories, to Lean-to and Gable-Front. You can even pick an extension that is perfectly suited to bungalows, or one that is built to fit in a corner.

There are some limitations, depending on the nature of your property, as to what you can choose. But your final decision will be down to personal preference. Have a browse through our different styles, and pick the one you like the look of the most.

What do I want to use it for?

There are a hundred different things you can use your conservatory for. A secondary living room, where you can relax, read a book, or just take a nap. It can also be used for more physical activities, by turning it into a home gym.

If this is the case, then it will probably impact which conservatory you end up buying. If you need more space, then go for the bigger model. If you’d prefer a more compact, cosier atmosphere – then you might want to take a look at smaller extensions.

Can I build it myself?

This is the question people normally struggle with. Is it possible to build a DIY conservatory, without the help of any professionals? The answer is: absolutely. Our extensions are incredibly easy to put together, and they come with simple step-by-step instructions.

Some of our customers have chosen to hire a local builder to complete the work, but this isn’t necessary. As an example, one of our recent customers, Ken Smith, built his conservatory with the help of his daughter and a couple of neighbours. Ken is almost 90 years of age. If he can do it, why can’t you?

How much can I save?

Because all of our conservatories are DIY, you can save a lot of money on the construction costs. Our services are significantly cheaper than others because we pass the savings on labour costs over to you.

In addition to that, we can discuss a conservatory finance plan best suited to you. Our packages only require a deposit of £99, and then you can pay the rest over a series of months and years. For more information, get in touch with us today on 0800 952 8000.
