You might want to install a conservatory – who doesn’t?
But does your home meet the necessary requirements?
You can probably build some sort of extension, as long as you have at least a little room, but there are a number of questions you need to answer before making your purchase.
This guide will help you determine if your property is conservatory-ready.
Do You Have Enough Space for Your Conservatory?
Obviously if you have no room at the front, side or back of your house – then the answer is no.
But if there is any space, you should be ok.
You don’t need a lot. Conservatory Land can build small conservatories, and extensions of various sizes.
We’ll discuss your measurements with you before we begin the manufacturing process, so you don’t have to worry about things not fitting. Everything goes together perfectly.
If you have an unusually small space, but think you might be able to do something with it, we’d recommend speaking to one of our advisors.
They’re available to call on 0800 952 8000.
Have You Decided What Position Your Conservatory Will Be Facing?
This is an important question, and one you need an answer to before you make your purchase.
Your options might be limited by the space you have available – but if this is not an issue, then you can have it facing whichever way you prefer.
We’ve actually written a separate guide on this topic, which you can read here.
It is also advised that you read up on planning permission and building regulations, as there are certain things you may or may not be able to do.
What to Do with Your Old Conservatory?
If you already have a conservatory – and are looking to replace it with a brand new one, then you’ll need to remove the existing structure first.
There are a few ways to do this, but the best (and safest option) is to hire a professional to dismantle your conservatory and dispose of the parts.
You could do it yourself, but to avoid any potential injury, we’d recommend finding a builder of some sort.
It’s also a good idea to recycle the parts. Or, if you can find someone to buy them, and reassemble them back into a conservatory – you could make a bit of cash.
You never know, it might be enough for the down payment of your new extension.
Are There Any Drains or Manholes That The Conservatory Would Block?
If you’re worried that a manhole or drain will prevent you from building a conservatory, don’t be.
We can manufacture the parts whilst taking these obstructions into account.
Conservatory Land has lots of experience doing this – and it’s a lot cheaper than moving your drain, which could cost a fair amount of money.
Who Will Install Your New Conservatory?
All our conservatories are DIY – which means you save money on labour costs.
However, this doesn’t mean you have no options.
You can choose to build it yourself. We’ll provide easy-to-follow instructions, and our technical team are just a phone call away if you run into any trouble.
Or, you can hire a local builder, who will act as your conservatory installer, and complete the work on your behalf.
Are You Ready for the Day of Arrival of Your New Conservatory?
Now that you know you can install a conservatory on your property, it’s time to get prepared.
On the day of delivery, ensure there is enough room to unload all the different parts.
If you want to start the installation process right away, great. But if you don’t (possibly due to bad weather), then you’ll need somewhere to store all the components.
Make sure the area is clear and tidy, so it’s easy enough to get started.
And have a plan in place for what you’re going to do about rubbish – so you can get it out of the way as you go along.
