2018 has arrived – and what better way to kick-off the New Year than to buy a brand new conservatory?
It’s a fantastic way to give your home a fresh look, and to increase the value of your property.
Lots of people have already entered the planning stages for constructing a DIY conservatory – whilst many more are enjoying the benefits of a fully-built extension.
One of those is Mr David Gilmour from Sevenoaks, Kent, who installed a Conservatory Land DIY lean-to conservatory last year.
Mr Gilmour wanted a lean-to style sunlounge to fit at the back of his home.
And we were happy to help. There were some very specific requirements that needed to be met – but we were more than up for the challenge.
For example, there were some height restrictions – so we needed to ensure the measurements were 100% accurate.
There was also an existing side-wall that needed to be taken into account when drawing up the initial plans.
When we had drawn these up – we presented our ideas to Mr Gilmour, which looked as follows:
Once we confirmed he was happy, we began producing all the different conservatory components.

The Installation Process
Our self-build conservatories are constructed either by the customer, or by a local builder hired by the customer.
Mr Gilmour decided to complete the installation himself.
He called our technical experts a couple of times to clarify a few things – but otherwise has no issues building his extension.
Mr Gilmour said: “I bought my conservatory as a DIY project. I must admit it was a bit daunting when all the packages arrived.”
“But not to worry, as all the parts were numbered as to where they were to fit. After reading the instructions I set about construction which turned out to be surprisingly simple.”
“I did have a couple of queries but a phone call to the technical team quickly resolved these and were very helpful in answering my questions.”
“Most of the construction was done by myself, and only needed help when fitting the wall plate and roof glass.”
“I am very pleased with the final outcome and I would certainly recommend Conservatory Land.”
